Is a tour to the Cobá ruins worth it?
Yes. Tours to the Cobá ruins allow you to discover an ancient Maya city surrounded by jungle and offering a very different atmosphere from other archaeological sites on the Yucatán Peninsula. Cobá is known for its ancient Maya roads, temples, carved stelae and the Nohoch Mul pyramid.
What makes the Cobá ruins special?
The Cobá ruins are located deep in the jungle and still feel closely connected to the natural landscape. The site contains an extensive network of sacbés, ancient stone roads that once connected different buildings and Maya settlements.
Can you still climb the Cobá pyramid?
No. Climbing the Nohoch Mul pyramid is currently not permitted in order to protect the archaeological structure. You can still see it from close up, explore the complex and learn during the guided visit about its importance within the ancient city of Cobá.
Cobá or Chichén Itzá: which Maya site is better?
